MA, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I see individuals and teens 14+, couples, and families in New Hope, MN.
I enjoy helping clients connect the dots between past experiences and present difficulties, whether as an individual or in a relationship with a partner, parent, or friend. I often focus work on expanding self-understanding, rewriting narratives that keep you stuck, relearning to experience and express emotions, practicing effective communication, and realigning your role in your relationships.
With couples, I typically explore present dynamics as compared to each partner's past attachment experiences and family history. We often work on strengthening and repairing the emotional bond that provides a sense of security and connection within the relationship.
Oftentimes we find ourselves stuck in patterns and cycles that we struggle to get out of, let alone have hope for to change. These patterns might be a well-rehearsed dance with another person or even a full cast of characters, or simply of our own internal world that ripples outward into our life. Through increased awareness of the interplay between what is within self and dynamics within relationships, we can disengage from the ineffective to move intentionally toward a more functional, fulfilling way of being.
In addition to my primary lens of attachment and to being trauma-informed, I integrate concepts, tools, and interventions from the following:
-IFS (Internal Family Systems)
-Polyvagal Theory
-Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)-Bowenian Family Systems
-Narrative Therapy
-ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy)
-Adlerian Psychotherapy (aka Individual Psychology)
My Values in Therapy
Curiosity, authenticity, and non-judgment are some of the most powerful tools in therapy. I aim to show up authentically so that those in my space can do the same. My office is a place where both humor and grief are welcome.
I practice secular and non-theistic therapy, which means that while I respect what faith and religious practices mean to clients, I do not integrate these into my work. I am open to working with folks who have completed or are in the process of deconstruction.
I consider it an honor to witness another’s story and to be a part of their healing process. Whether you're feeling stuck in relationship dynamics or seeking to heal the pain of individual wounds, it would be my privilege to help you better yourself and your relationships!
