Child and Family Therapist

We are seeking a neurodiverse-affirming and child-led therapist with competencies in working with children and families to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in therapeutic practices and a commitment to improving the well being of neurodiverse children, children who have experienced trauma, LGBTQ+ children (including trans children) and their families. As a Child and Family Therapist, you will work with children and families to address various challenges these children face through identifying support needs, creating plans for environmental modification at home and school to better meet those support needs, facilitating the implementation of those plans, guiding child identity development, and helping children process trauma to find healing and to allow them to grow into the human beings they already are.


Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess the mental health needs of clients and develop treatment plans

  • Support children to be active agents in their therapy at developmentally appropriate levels and in developmentally appropriate ways.

  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.

  • Provide individual and family counseling sessions tailored to the unique needs of clients.

  • Deliver client care that centers best practices in neurodiversity-affirming and child-led care.

  • Facilitate family counseling sessions to improve consistency across settings and to assist families in responding to any barriers they might face.

  • Engage in family therapy to address family dynamics that may be exacerbating child difficulties.

  • Coordinate care with schools, other medical providers (OT, speech, gender care providers, psychiatric providers, pediatricians, etc.) as needed


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology,, or a related field.

  • Valid licensure to practice therapy (LMFT, LPCC, LPC, LICSW, LP). (Pre-licensed individuals, see "Mental Health Practitioner" job posting.)

  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic evaluation methods and therapeutic interventions.

  • Experience in individual and family therapy.

  • Strong history and competency with children ages 2-12, including neurodivergent children and transgender children.

  • Familiarity with somatic or other trauma-based therapy techniques is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining medical records.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.


Full- and part-time options available (at least 2 days per week) - you create your own schedule within clinic space availability.
